The purpose of this Design-Build project was to restore and modernize the existing spaces in building 3230 for the dental clinic at Naval Base San Diego (NBSD), San Diego, California. Building 3230 is an existing two-story medical building that was constructed in 1975. The facility needed to be upgraded to meet the Unified Facility Code (UFC) 4-510-01 Design: Medical Facilities standards and Office of Statewide Health Planning Development (OSHPD). The restoration included the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, structural and architectural systems of the dental clinic. Work included restoration and repair of elevators, ceiling, wall and floor finishes, roofing, plumbing, and domestic water supply system; restoration of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system to include cooling generation systems, distribution systems, terminal and package units, controls and instrumentation, testing and balancing and special mechanical systems; restoration of the fire protection system to include fire alarms, sprinklers, and standpipe systems; restoration of the electrical distribution system to include transformer, main switchboards, interior distribution transformers, panels, switches, receptacles, lighting and branch wiring, emergency lighting, and other lighting components; restoration of grounding systems, built-in master clock systems, security systems and other communications systems; and hazardous materials abatement in applicable areas.
