R. A. Burch Construction was the Prime Contractor for this new construction project that provides the Marine Corps AirGround Combat Center with a total of 70,410 SF and a centralized facility to improve communications functions on base with new administrative, conference and training facilities as well as a new data center, and a vehicle maintenance bay. Extensive coordination was carried out with several adjacent construction projects and the base commander, to facilitate a new large Co-generation plant for the mainside infrastructure, concerning road closures, electrical outages, and chilled and hot water renovations and additions.

The 22,910 SF – Tier 3 Data Center is the hub of all communications and data at the base at Twentynine Palms which requires it to be included as an essential services building. The design includes a basement vault/ battery room as well as state-of-the-art servers and multiple redundant supporting equipment and infrastructure meeting the telecommunications data center design standards. The design included special consideration and coordination with Provost Marshall Office (PMO) and SPAWAR representatives for secure areas including Restricted Access and Controlled Access design criteria and hardening requirements for walls, doors and infrastructure associated with Special Access Program requirements for the facility.
